Kentucky Youth Soccer is dedicated to developing and raising
the level of coaching education for all youth soccer coaches across
the state. Kentucky Youth Soccer's goal is to have every
child coached by a qualified and trained coach to
maximize his/her soccer experience.
Designed to meet the changing
needs of today’s game, the United States Soccer Federation

seeks to immerses coaches in the culture of the game.
Throughout the
year Kentucky Youth Soccer offers three levels of courses
that include field instruction in the areas of technique,

Kentucky Youth Soccer Adopts phased in Minimum
Coaching Standards
Could you imagine if every youth soccer player could receive the
best training from educated coaches that are willing to mold players
into an organized, motivated team with player development at the top
of the priority list? Starting September 1, 2007, Kentucky
Youth Soccer put these dreams into reality, by
approving minimum coaching standards for select level
coaches. Kentucky Youth Soccer became the 29th
US Youth Soccer State Association to mandate coaching
education.
The aim of this coaching plan will be to assist coaches
in using concepts and theories for age-appropriate
training. “Most coaches have the right
intentions but with some guidance and support through
coaching education we can help the coach educate their teams
and produce more rounded soccer players,” said Adrian
Parrish, Kentucky Youth Soccer Director of Coach & Player
Development.
“We expect some
coaches and administrators to have initial concerns due to
the using the word mandatory, but one of the main reason for
implementing this coaching education plan is to drastically
improve player development” continues Parrish.
Each member
association or club will receive full support from Kentucky
Youth Soccer in setting up coaching course. “Youth soccer
coaches play a vital role in developing our children as
soccer players. More significantly, coaches affect our
children's character and sense of self worth in ways
that translate far beyond the soccer field and well beyond
their youth,” says Neal Frink of Campbell County North Youth
Soccer. Neal Frink has had the opportunity to attend
several Kentucky Youth Soccer courses as a parent, coach and
administrator and believes this is a great move for the
overall development of the game.
