Kentucky Team Punch tickets to the 2009 US Youth Soccer National
Championships in Massachusetts
Congratulations
to the 2009 US Youth Soccer Region II (Midwest) Champions, the U17 and
U18 Javanon boys teams for their success in the state and regional
championships of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series, the
country's most prestigious national youth soccer tournament. These two
teams now advance to the third and final leg of the quest for the
National Championship in
Lancaster,
MA July 21-26. You can

John
Gompper Scholarship
John Gompper was
involved in soccer as a coach and an administrator for more than 20
years. He served as inaugural president of Kentucky Youth Soccer and
later as the Region II Sub-Regional Director from 1983 – 1993. In
addition, he served on several National and Regional committees during
his long tenure in the game of soccer.
Kentucky Youth Soccer will award eight, one-year John
Gompper scholarships of $1,000 each for students planning
to attend a post secondary educational institution (PSEI). The
basis for awarding of the scholarships will be community service
and giving back to the game. Participation in soccer at the
collegiate level is not a prerequisite. Scholarships will be paid
directly to the PSEI and only incoming freshman are eligible for the
scholarship.

Kentucky
Coach Wins Regional Award
Adrian Parrish was recently selected as the 2009 United States Adult
Soccer Association (USASA) Region II Coach of the Year. In winning this
honor – given annual to one coach for his or her coaching activities,
sportsmanship, player development and personal coaching development –
Adrian
was selected over some other great coaches in the Midwest Region. By
winning this award, Adrian
will travel to the USASA Mid-Year Meeting in October where he will have
the opportunity to be named 2009 USASA National Coach of the Year.

U9
Academy
Kentucky Youth Soccer is looking toward the future of soccer with the
creation of the U9 Academy. This revolutionary format, while new to
Kentucky, has been highly successful in the
development of young players as they continue to increase their
knowledge and passion for the game. With cooperation and support from
the Kentucky Select Soccer League and its member clubs, Kentucky Youth
Soccer will begin exclusive play of the U9 Academy this fall. To learn

Kentucky
Youth Soccer Names State Teams Kentucky Youth Soccer
Association would like to thank everyone that has participated in the
Olympic Development Program during the 2008/09 season. Every player as
helped improve and raise the level of the program as well as the 18
players that have been selected to represent the state association at
the US Youth Soccer Region II events this summer. Following the final
event in Bowling Green this past weekend the 18 players were selected
for the 1996 thru to 1992 age groups with two teams split by birth
months representing at the 1996 and 1995 Boys.Every
player has shown a tremendous work ethic and desire to represent
although they may have not made the final selection they still have a
bright future and we know that they are capable of returning next season
as a more developed player. Kentucky Youth Soccer would like to
thank the support of the parents and clubs throughout the season and
will provide each squad player with a written evaluation which will be
sent out within the next 3 weeks. To see the list

Kentucky
Youth Soccer to Add New Coaching Course
Beginning in September 2009, Kentucky
Youth Soccer will be offering another coaching education course to our
member organizations. The Youth Technical Certificate course will be a
three hour course totally focused on helping coaches teach the technical
skills players need to execute to play the game. The course will consist
of 1 hour of classroom work followed by 2 hours on the field and is
highly recommended for coaches working with players between 9 to 13
years old as well as parents of players in these age groups. The three
hour course is aimed to provide the candidates with more on the field
activities which they can use immediately.

Youth Soccer Offers First Spanish Coaching Education Course
Kentucky Youth Soccer
Association was excited to have offered the USSF Youth Module Course for
the first time in Spanish on May 22, 2009. Over 20 Spanish speaking
youth soccer coaches attended the course which was hosted by BIFA
Academia Juniors, who start operating in the Lexington area this fall.

Minimum
Coaching Education Policy Two years ago, Kentucky
Youth Soccer Association implemented a minimum coaching education
policy for club Directors of Coaching and select level coaches.
This policy goes into effect September 1, 2009, so if you or
your coaches are not in compliance, we suggest that you take
advantage of one of the courses we are offering this summer.

The Kentucky Youth Soccer Office will closed on Friday,
