Basic Cocoa Squares Recipes

Preheat oven to 350 F. Spray or lightly grease 8x8 baking pan.

What you need:

  • 1 cup + 1 tbsp applesauce
  • 1 tbsp oil

What you do:

Add applesauce and oil to Cocoa Squares Mix. Blend until moist and uniform. Bake for 20 - 25 min (less time for more fudgy brownies, more for cake-like brownies). Let cool and cut into 9-12 squares.

Nutty Chocolate Squares

Follow basic recipe, add 1/3 cup of chopped nuts to the batter. Walnuts, pecans, and macadamia nuts are delicious with chocolate.

White Chocolate Squares

Follow basic recipe, add 1/4 - 1/3 cup of white chocolate chips to batter.

Cocoa Berry Bites

Follow basic recipe. Divide batter between 9 muffin tins, or 18 mini-muffin tins. Add 1-2 frozen raspberries on top of each filled cavity. Bake for 20 min.

Mocha Squares

Follow basic recipe, add 1 tbsp instant coffee and 1-2 tbsp sugar to batter.

Snack Cakes

Follow basic recipe. Frost cocoa squares with a cream cheese icing.

Peanut butter Swirl

Melt 5 tbsp creamy peanut butter (our favorite is Skippy Naturals) in microwave. Follow basic cocoa squares recipe, spread into 8x8 pan. Spoon melted peanut butter onto top of cocoa squares and swirl into batter. Bake for 20-25 min.
