ORIGINS OF THE CUP
The Kentucky Youth Soccer
Association (KYSA) Commonwealth Cup was initiated and organized to
enhance the accomplishments recreational players achieve by
participating is a state championship tournament in the late 1970s. In
2000. the event was moved from the Spring to the Fall and renamed for a sponsor.
In 2005 it was renamed as the Commonwealth Cup as the five year sponsorship was
not renewed.
The development of all players
within KYSA is advanced when the player meets personal
challenges. The
Commonwealth Cup is
designed to encourage and honor the recreational
player by allowing the player to compete for both team and personal
goals.
This tournament is structured so
that, regardless of ability, all players can realistically strive for
the goal of becoming a state champion.
PHILOSOPHY
It is the Commonwealth Cup philosophy
that all players should receive equal opportunities and benefits
within their level of play. Further, all players have the right to
participate in competitions where the can be honored as winners. |
