Record 181 Teams to Compete in 2008 cup

The Kentucky Youth Soccer State Open Cup is the first step in the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series, the nation's premier youth soccer tournament. The Kentucky State Open Cup will again be played over two weekends in 2008.

Tournament Registration for the 2008 Kentucky State Cup is now closed, and Kentucky Youth Soccer is pleased to announce that a record 180 teams have applied.  The Kentucky Youth Soccer State Cup Draw was held on the evening of March 5^th, and the brackets have been announced.  To view the schedule of matches, please click here or use the link on the left for match schedules.

The first weekend will be played Saturday, Sunday and Monday May 24-26 in Lexington at Masterson Station Park and the second weekend will be played Saturday and Sunday May 31-June 1 at Lover's Lane Soccer Complex in Bowling Green.

Winners of the Kentucky State Open Cup advance to US Youth Soccer Region II Championships in Rockford, Illinois June 20-25. Winners of the Regional Competition will advance to the National Championships at Burns Park Soccer Complex in North Little Rock, AR July 22-27.

The Kentucky State Open Cup is open to any properly registered Kentucky Youth Soccer team aged U13-U19 that has competed (or will compete) in a 4 team league in the 2007-08 seasonal year.

The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series Kentucky Open Cup was initiated and organized by the Kentucky Youth Soccer Association (KYSA) to enhance the accomplishments competitive players achieve by participating is a state championship tournament that can lead to regional and national play.

The Kentucky Open Cup has led to two National Champions and two National Finalists with the most recent being the Javanon Soccer Club Under 19 Boys who won the 2006 US Youth Soccer Maguire Cup as National Champions.

The development of all players within Kentucky Youth Soccer is advanced when the player meets personal challenges. The Kentucky Open Cup is open to teams ages Under 13 through Under 19, both boys and girls.  169 teams participated in the 2007 Open Cup hosted by the Lexington FC at their Masterson Station Complex..
